You can actually buy these for a decent price, then glue them on for the night and they end up looking absolutely real if you take care to blend them in with makeup.

Use construction paper or there is a stiffer almost like felt paper that comes in a zillion colors and will "stand-up" better for the ears...
Most craft, hobby places (and even Wal-Mart) have it...it feels softer to the touch..(I can't for the life of me remember right now what it' called)...OR you can use cardboard or styrofoam.
You can also get "spirit gum" which is cheap and easy to find, to apply them over your real ears so they'll stick to your skin if need be...a friend of mine, doing something similar one year, used fake eye-lash adhesive instead...

Step one: Buy "Spock" ears.

Step two: Tell everybody you are an elf.

It is tough making latex molds from scratch without practice. I wold recommend just buying a set at the costume shop. Maybe use werewolf ears or some other character instead of "elf" to get bigger size.

Make, Cheaply, and Realistic do not fit in the same sentence. You can't beat the prices on Halloween shop pointy ears by trying to make them yourself. It is an expensive process involving making a life cast, then creating a positive of the ear with clay, making a mold, pouring liquid latex, etc, etc, etc. Very time consuming. You really would be much better off visiting a Halloween shop.

go to a halloween shop and get the fake ones that fit on top of your ears...they usually come with the latex that you will need to atach them and the makeup to blend them in...it usually isnt going to cost more than 7-10 bucks...at wal mart..3-4 bucks, if you can find them
